My 1st hatch- I am scared my chickies shells is to hard to get out

Thanks everyone. I will be patient.
I have had hens for about 4 years now but never tried to hatch eggs before. Thanks again for all your support and advise.
I will let everyone know when they hatch.

So glad I found this topic... saved me the time of writing it myself. Having exactly the same "problem", pacing, checking the 'bator every 15 minutes, etc. etc. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

Blaine,
Please keep me updated on your eggs and I will do the same.. Everyone has been really nice. It is nice to have chick friends..

Good luck !!

If you are using an incubator, the hatcher portion should be closer to 80% humidity to make the shells soft to make it easier for them to get out of the shell. Add sponges to the bottom, increase the surface area of the water pan, and hope for the best.

Everyone,

THEY ARE HERE !!!

Congrats on making it thru your first hatching experience!!

Patience!!

You know... as I read these posts it seems that the hatching is almost as hard on us humans watching as it is the chick doing the work !!
