I don't know why my Buff goose will only sit on her nest at night, in the mourning she leaves the nest all day. When she was a year old last year, she seemed to be broody and I saw her on the nest all the time. The only problem last year were the eggs were warm when she left the nest and I knew the eggs were dead. She is two years old now, so I thought she would be more experienced and get it right.

She has laid around 9 eggs, I took out 8 of the eggs hoping she will lay more so that I can incubate the fresh eggs in the house. Last year she went broody and sat on nest, but the eggs were not warm enough to be viable.

Welcome to BYC!
I'm sorry your goose isn't sitting. Some of my hens are just never willing to commit to full on broodinesss.
I wish I could be of more help but I've never had geese. Im sure that someone will be along to help soon. Again, welcome.

One of my girls sets the nest every night I believe she is protecting them from getting to cold. See and 3 others girls all lay in the same nest box. (they have 3). A few really cold days I have seen her on the nest for a few hours. I did let the eggs build up to see if something would happen and finally removed all 18 eggs. I believe she isn't ready to go broody yet just keeping her stash safe at night. She dose not poo in her nest at all so I know she is all about the eggs. If she was just nesting there would be poo everywhere. I have African Geese
