Will end up costing a lot more than that! I was offered a coop, took it sight-unseen, all I had to do was give him gas money. This is it:

Definitely needs some work -

The floor should be ok once it dries. Some of the studs will need replacing, as will some of the bottom pieces of the framing. Also planning to put down linoleum. And of course, need to build roosts and nest boxes.

On the back, we're going to replace the plywood and waterproof it. We'll stick a door in the back so I can get in to clean it. We'll also need to do new plywood on the roof before we shingle it.

There is a nice front porch, I think we'll take the screening off it though - it looks horrible. The hardware cloth should be enough to protect the birds from any predators. The green stuff on top of the porch is insulation board. Not sure why they put it there...

Wow! Looks pretty cool but you're right, gonna be a lot of work! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! I'll be waiting for picture updates

Not only was it a chicken house, but also a cat house. Found a bed, toys and litter in there when we cleaned it out. And lots of pink fiberglass insulation....which had gotten wet.

Had to scrape a bunch of nasty stuff off the floor. I've sprayed it with a strong bleach solution but have not gotten any further than that yet. My husband thinks we need to do even more work than I have on my list. He is of the persuasion that if you're going to do a job, do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again. At this point, I just want it to be a safe place for winter.
