My 2025 Easter Blue Egg Hatch-A-Long

Wishing you a great hatch!

I have some CL eggs in lockdown. Hatch day is tomorrow. I’m such a “clock watcher” when it comes to lockdown.
Well, incubator watcher. :lau

Mine will not start hatching before Saturday evening at the earliest. I pay close attention to the humidity during lockdown more than the earlier days of incubation. Not nearly as fanatical as I was in days gone by. I'm wanting to turn this incubation process over to hens. Hens come with their own brooder.

I am hoping that last weekends hatch and this weekends hatch will merge without fanfare. While I did order day old CCLegar chicks and brood them these are the first hatched here on the Homestead. Today I put a few eggs under a mom want a be Legbar pullet and got myself pecked doing it. Evidently she is going to make a fiercely protective mom. I would really love to have several broody hens hatching eggs next year on Easter weekend.

Four chicks have hatched this morning.
Very excited about these eggs!
@Nomadicus I also started out with CCL chicks and now they are a year and half old.
This is my first time incubating CCL eggs. They really are beautiful birds. Speckled Sussex are my favorite, but these may be second.
Hope you have a good hatch!

Looks like #2 is a pullet also. Another one zipping now. I have another hour before I need to leave them to mother nature and get some sleep. I do hope to get 13-14 pullets out of these 30 eggs.

25 or more of the 35 eggs that went to lockdown are hatched now. Several more pipped now. They started hatching Easter Sunday and Should all be finished by tomorrow if not tonight. I'll candle any not hatched in the morning. This is the most strung out hatch that we have ever had.
