I'm a first time chicken owner. My husband and I got four (sexed) baby chicks at three days old. Two are confirmed roosters that we now have to re-home. Our Buff Orpington, Chickpea, is one that I feel pretty certain is a hen. The only thing that concerns me is that when the roosters kind of approach her or chase her, she sometimes looks them in the eye and all her neck feathers stick straight out. I see the roosters doing that to each other, so it concerns me when I see Chickpea do that. Is that normal hen behavior? Please tell me that Chickpea is, in fact, a she.
Thank you!! Chickpea is 3.5 months old.
