My 3 month old peking’s sick! Please help!

My Nibbler has been pretty weak. Doesn’t want to walk that much and is very wobbly on his/her (no clue yet) legs. I also noticed that his butt feathers and one of his wing feathers (which is now bleeding) have been plucked out either by himself or from Hoggle my Khaki Campbell. He can walk to his food and water but pretty much lays down immediately in front of them. I was told that he might not have enough niacin in his diet so I’ve been putting pinches of straight niacin from the capsules into his water or food but I don’t think it’s enough. I want to wash him and mend the wounds but don’t know what to use or how. Please help!

What kind of food do you feed your duck, how old is your duck, where do you keep your ducks and what kind of bedding, do they have access to clean fresh water throughout the daytime??? Check out this thread on niacin by Isaac o, its extremely helpful!!!!

I give them the stuff in the yellow bag with a tablespoon per cup of the brewers yeast and some of the garden grains as a treat. The ducks were born the 3rd week in May. We keep them in a wooden duck house with pine shavings for bedding. They have access to fresh water all day except when in their house at night.

So sorry. I have a Pekin just like this. Its not a niacin deficiency, I wish it was. I call it Meat bird syndrome. These birds were bred to go big fast for harvesting. So they get too fat for their legs. Bogo my drake is 4 months. I keep hoping his legs will grow to support him better. He has the same trouble with his wings as yours has too. I wish I had better advice.

I’d try the liquid B complex mentioned in the niacin thread can’t hurt.
