This is Garmin...

She is a shiba inu, and was only 4 weeks old when taken away from her mom!

We got her when she was 7 weeks old, and she chose us! When we went to look at the puppies, I actually liked one of her brothers, but we put Garmin back in the pen to look at one of her brothers, and she stood up on the side and cried for us! I knew she was the one for us... DH even liked her best out of the bunch

So, she went home with us. Garmin is the baby out of the 3, and each of our dogs were rescues.

At about a year and a half old, Garmin tore her cruciate ligament in her left leg

We took her to a specialist in MD 3 hours from us and got her all fixed up. She was great - ran better than ever even! But, he told us that about 90% of dogs that tear one ligament, will tear the other usually within a year... Garm was unfortunately not one of the 10%. She tore her right cruciate ligament being a bad dog chasing my chickens (another long story for another post

) last week. We called the doc and he took her right away, and was even nice enough to break it into payments that we could afford (we have our own electrical contracting business... things aren't so great right now), rather than paying the whole thing at once

We picked her up today, and she is finally back at home with us

Here's a pic of her taken just tonight...

She's adorable! I've always wanted a shiba inu

Glad that she's doing better. I just got laid off from a teaching job (apparently families with children are leaving our state for some reason

) and my dog had to have a few abcessed teeth removed--so I know what you're going through.

Now did you name your Garm after the Norse wolf of the moon?

Beautiful dog! just beautiful!

I hope she gets well soon!

And tell her no more chasing the chickens!

those vet bills do get expensive.

and my kids are trying to talk us into breeding our golden retriever.

She is actually named after Garmin the GPS system

We do a lot of off roading, and our first dog is named Hummer

Yes, that is her deflated fox toy... She Loves that and her elephant.

Trust me, I've told her about the

Shiba's are a hunting dog in Japan, and Garmin proves that no matter how lazy one is, they still have the drive in them somewhere! At our old house, we had gotten 12 "packing peanuts" with some ducks that I had gotten. I raised all of those boys up, and the dogs never bothered them. Figure that one out. I guess the roo's would simply stand there and puff up at the dogs, rather than run, but still

Never had trouble with the ducks either.

Yes well... Thats my 3000$ rescue dog! She will be Super Dog once this leg heals, then no more problems

She is lovely. And good for you for taking such great care of your dog!

We had to take a dog to A&M and have a knee re-built, so I do sympathize with you. When she was 11 her re-built knee was better than the other knee!

I know one person who ran up $40,000 getting her dog treated for cancer and a couple who have gone oaver $10,000 for various reasons! So you are in good company.

Im pretty much a snob for my own breed of dog; however, thats a beautifuly sweet face she has. Hopefully she'll heal quickly for you.
