I am a owner of 4 Wyandotte hens and I live in a rainforest on the Big Island of Hawaii. They're free ranged and laying eggs every day. I "found" a young wild rooster, who has decided to stay in my backyard WITH my hens. The question is this...are my hens SAFE? What about possible bugs that this rooster might have? What if my hens get pregnant, can I still eat their eggs?
Right now, my hens are tolerating him but when he gets near their food, they all rush him! Please help and Mahalo in advance 💯🤙

Can you get pictures of this boy?
If your hens are putting the run on him, he may be a young cockerel. How old are your hens?
Where does he stay at night? Does he try to roost with your hens? If he does, grab him off the roost when it's dark out and examine him using a head lamp. Look him over well for any obvious issues. He's already been around your birds so quarantining him isn't going to help any. If he looks healthy and is parasite free and you want him, let him work his way into your flock.

So...my hens are 1 1/2 years old and, I know that this rooster is young. I managed to kick it out of my backyard... I have gates on either side of my house and it can't figure out HOW to get BACK in my backyard...so..for now, he comes periodically but, is wild & free.
Mahalo for taking the time to answer 💯🤙

Finally got a couple of pictures of the rooster.
