My 5 month old rooster keeps attacking my dog

He is a very happy rooster has been trying to be the man but I have a dog who love all my other hens even the other rooster but this rooster keeps picking a fight with my very loving dog ugh how do I make this stop?

Welcome! Is anyone injured? Is the cockerel, or your dog, at risk of injury here? If yes, separation is the best solution. Your dog may decide to 'fix' the situation permanently, or just avoid the birds and not interact with the cockerel. Or, your cockerel may escalate his attacks as he matures.

You can't stop it. Hormones are telling your cockerel to protect his girls. You know the dog won't hurt them, but he doesn't and there is no way you are going to turn off his hormones and convince him all is well so he'll stop attacking the dog. There is no way to reason with a cockerel on teenaged hormones.

I'd just try to keep the dog away from the chickens. Also, keep a close watch on your boy. Next he may decide you are the enemy too. Over the past several years I've sent 2 roosters to freezer camp. Thank goodness I have two now that are not bothered by people.

Try creating a rooster yard special for him that you can isolate him in when your dog is outside. I had the same problem with my puppies when they came into my chicken yard with me. I go in the yard first and shoo him into his yard, shut the gate, and then let my pups in with the girls until I was done. Then after I would let him back out again and he could be the "man." He also would fly at my toddler so this was where it all spurred from.

If your chickens are free range and it's gonna be a pain to corral him Everytime, then I'd say make him a permanent yard and give him a few permanent chickens to live with so he doesn't go nuts. Otherwise if he won't stop, you may just have to find another. Roosters are hard to get to not be pains in butts. I hand raised four, all babies, they'd sit on my shoulder like a parrot when I asked them to, and all turned into lil cocks once their hormones kicked in.

I feel soooo bad I have two older ladies that love my doge and the new hen love him too they share the same yard so it is not possible to stop my dog from going out . I rescued these chickens and two roosters as babies. I really don't want to get rid of him I was hopping their was something I could do He wont attack me but my dog will if pushed I don't want that to happen he is a big teddy bear and loves them

Cockerels can turn out well, or not. It's a combination of genetics and how they're raised. Your boy may never get along with your dog; either they work it out; and that's more about your more trainable dog, or they need to be separated.
Also, those 'friendly', hand fed, disrespectful cockerel chicks, are likely to develop into human aggressive jerks as they mature, and no bird who attacks a child should be allowed to stay!!! My cockerels are expected to move away from me at all times, and never think bad thought about any human. It's just not acceptable! Mary

Thank goodness my Chewy( bull terrier) did nothing but has been around hens for a very long time my hens ride on his back and sit with him but this batch that I rescued I have two roosters. I raised from babies. Today he went after my Chewy and he did not react but looked like he was going to....... I don't want my Chewy to be a bad dog.

I have separated my rooster from all the hens I feel so bad. But if I keep him away maybe he will submit to me and my dog.

This cockerel isn't going to work out, at least at your place, with your dog. At some point, your dog may decide to fix the problem, and who could blame him? It's also possible the Chewie may then decide that cockerels, or maybe all chickens, are dangerous and not worth having around.
It's very unlikely that this idiot cockerel, already attacking a larger predator repeatedly, will have the smarts to reform. Mary

How do you teach yours to move away at all times? I hatched these 2 and got 1 rooster. They both had ro sleep on the arm of my chair every night. Now, he'll come up and bite me. I read, he was looking at me as part of his pack. He's stopped doing that but now he stands in between me and the other baby and today he attacked my small dog for no reason. My poor dog wasn't no where around him and was laying in the yard. My dog knows not to bother my chickens so therefore he wouldn't fight back. Why and what do I do? He's also biting my 13 year old granddaughter. Us 2 raised them. He doesn't bother my husband and he's never home cuz he's away for work a lot. Please help me. I love all my babies
