Mu duck is 7-8 month old. She is female. Dogs attacked the duck 5-6 hours ago. Dogs tore her skin very badly. Her bowel was out. And her belly was able to see. I replaced her bowel and sewed her skin. Then i put tincture of iodine to her skin that i sewed. Now, she is not eating or drinking. And she looks very tired. I can't take her to a vet because i have no money. What can i do for her? Please help me.

What is your location? I will tag @Miss Lydia a duck expert. I am not sure that your duck will make it though. An open wound like that could get infected and cause a great deal of suffering. I would treat her for shock with sugar in water or electrolytes, offer food, and keep her warm. Clean her wound with iodine, chlorhexidene or whatever disinfectant you have. Antibiotic ointment on the stitches.

I live in Turkey/Hatay. Thanks for your advices. I speaked with a vet and he said "You can give antibiotic but bowel area can easily get an infection." I am cleaning her injury with tincture of iodine, giving water and antibiotic with syringe.

Hi.

Do you know about AUTOPHAGY?
To make it short : autophagy is a "regeneration and healing process".

Now... what does stimulate autophagy?
That would be stress, but also fasting : indeed, not consuming any calorie during a certain time period ends up to stimulate autophagy.
Meaning here : not eating means healing "faster and better".

So, first : do NOT feed your duck for the time being.

Tell yourself her body needs all of its energy to heal... and if you feed her, her body will prioritize the use its energy to digest instead of to heal.

Also : you could want to help her scarring process by applying some non-industrial honey on her wound (and then, put a bandage on it).
That's what I would do, at least...

Do you know if the bowel was punctured or did it look untouched? Just having a dirty bite wound into the abdominal cavity would have a high risk of sepsis. I have worked in surgery, and a human wound would require flushing the wound, and antibiotics to prevent fecal bacterial infection. I do hope she survives, but her chances are not very good. Intestines will kind of shut down peristalsis for some time after handling. So yes, offering food right now might be more harmful. Let us know how she gets along.
