we got new chicks this spring and all of a sudden my light Brahma died yesterday. the rest of our flock was fine. there were no visible sighs of symptoms in the days leading up. I couldn't find any sign of predators. does any one know how this might have happened. any help i can get is greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas everyone! :)

What exactly do you feed?
Are you aware you can refrigerate the body and send it in overnight to your state lab for an answer as to why it died? A necropsy.

Do you still have the body? Some of us do home necropsies where we open the abdomen and look at the organs for a possible cause of death. A professional necropsy is even better, but you would have to keep the body refrigerated and send or take it in on Monday. During the holidays, it could be hard to get one, but you can call on Monday am. If you do a home necropsy, take pictures of the organs and abdomen. Reproductive disorders, heart or kidney problems, crop disorders, mites, and many other things could cause death in a young pullet. Sorry for your loss. Here is a link for state vets and getting a necropsy:
