I know this sounds like a really stupid question but does the mother hen feed her chicks via mouth by regurgitation like a regular bird or is there some other way.

No. Chicks can eat on their own right after hatch. Momma will lead them to the food and her pecking at it will get them to eat.

You can post pics of your birds in the What Breed section here on BYC for some ID of them. I am not that good with breeds I don't keep...

yep Lt. Brahmas, I have some too but mine are babies,

today is the first day outside to stay, they have graduated to the grow out /Silkie pen.
