I adopted this beautiful gold capped conure the other day. I guess her previous owners didn't like the noise and kept her in a dark closet for 2 years before she was rescued. Her name is Elliot. Shes a sweetie! She can wolf-whistle, quack like a duck, and can almost say "pretty bird"

Here she is with my nanday conure Tristin

Beautiful! I love birds, but the outside kind. A friend of mine has one just like that, very nice. I hope she will adjust to you and do well. Good luck!

Thanks! Its only been a few days but I think she is adjusting well. I had to go through a couple bandages on my fingers at first but now I can pick her pick 90% of the time without getting bit. She still won't sit on anything except her cage and my finger/shoulder but hopefully that will get better. In the second picture I had set her on the floor to get a pic but she kept trying to get on my hand and the result was a close up. lol

Pretty bird. She will always remember that you are the one that rescued her from a bad existence.

How pretty!!! Does Tristin like her? I used to have a green cheek Conure. Named her Cutie Pie(original huh). She was the absolute sweetest thing, but she was very clingy and if we walked by without picking her out of her cage, she was in the living room on the way to the den, she would holler at us till she couldn't hear us anymore. Well, hubby was having PTSD from lightning strike and started having seizure episodes at that time so we had to give Cutie Pie away because she was setting off his seizures with her screeching. She used to whistle and tried to sound like the phone, and could say "pretty bird". She was so much fun... I could take her outside and she would walk around and explore but never went too far from me and never tried to fly up in a tree. Matter of fact, son used to take her up in his clubhouse.

Well I'm working on getting them to like each other. Right now they stay pretty distant. Elliot is used to other birds but Tristin isn't so I guess it will just take some time. My first bird was a green-cheek. He was also a rescue and was very mean. Eventually he warmed up to me some and I was the only one who could handle him but I still had many many bites. I had a another green cheek and a sun conure with him until they all had accidents. My first green cheek and a cockatiel mysteriously died the same night. I had the fire department come and check for carbon monoxide leaks but they couldn't find any thing. The sun conure was strangled by a toy. (note to bird owners: do not buy a toy called Cotton Candy if you find it. It was later recalled for killing birds). My other green cheek was attacked by a cat outside and had to be put to sleep. So I guess the lesson is: be very careful outdoors and always supervise playtime. Hopefully nothing bad happens to these two. I want them to be friends and live a very long life.
