I have 3 Rhode Island Reds, and when they were young we didn't hand carry them enough, especially once they started living outdoors. Now they will barely come within arms reach except to get treats, they are very skittish and get upset and anxious when they have to be handled (wing clipping, dusting, etc..). There were a couple of times I had to chase them down to put them in their run and it was traumatizing to all of us (its **** hard to corner a chicken that doesn't want to be caught!). My kids get bummed out because they want to be able to interact with the birds, but I don't want them chasing the birds because it would make the situation worse.
Is there a way to "hand tame" my girls without stressing them out?
