Hello everyone,

I just had to share that my Lady B, star of my blog and chicken coop, has truly proven herself to be a star among pullets!

She laid her first egg ever this past Friday, and as of this morning, she has given me six eggs in her first seven days of laying! Amazing! She is an EE from MM and is 20.5 weeks old right now.... her first egg came at 19 weeks and 6 days old.

Here's my girl:

Here she is in the nesting box:

And here are four of her eggs (we ate the first two!):

And our whole egg take so far from all of our chickens (except the first two from Lady B). The brown ones are from a Cuckoo Marans and the brighter green one is from another EE... we have three laying pullets so far out of 11, all the same age:

I'm just so excited to have eggs and I think my Lady B is so amazing, I just had to share! Thanks for looking!

holy cow! over five dozen in the first 3 weeks? From your signature, it looks like you have 10 pullets? Wow! I guess I'm going to be swimming in eggs before I know it! Congratulations on all of your eggs as well!

I know!!! I actually have 9 pullets (1 of the Silkies is a roo, too), and a couple aren't even laying yet. The Silkie pullet is not laying, and I think 1 of the BO's isn't laying yet. I'm getting 5-6 eggs a day from the 6 or 7 that are laying.

It's a good thing for me though...I keep getting requests for eggs

My husband already took a dozen to his mom, who was extremely excited about it. She had chickens when she was young and has been missing those fresh eggs. I'm visiting my dad this weekend and he said, "You're bringing me a dozen eggs, RIGHT???"

We have other friends and family begging too, so I might even need MORE layers. I love it!

How egg-citing!

She is a gorgeous girl too. Mine are only 2.5 months old. Its my first time raising chickens, so I'm sure I'll be doing a little jig when one of mine lay their first egg.

yay! Thanks everybody! I just had to share in my excitement! Plus, as some of you may already know, Lady B is my miracle chicken anyway because I saved her from a hawk when she was only seven weeks old! I walked away from them when they were free-ranging for a couple of minutes, watching them from the window of my house the entire time. As I went out the door to go back to them, I saw something large and brown on the ground and it was a hawk - on top of Lady B! I screamed and ran at it and it gave up and flew away. But, my girl had been hit hard and was bleeding a lot out of her mouth. Anyway, I took her in an nursed her for a couple of days and she bounced right back. She is totally amazing... she probably should have had her head torn off by that hawk right then and there! What a lucky and wonderful girl

Anyway, to all of you who have eggs now, congrats! And to all of you who are waiting... it's worth the wait! You'll be so egg-cited when they finally come!
