my ambition is to be a chicken breeder when im older and im looking at silkies my friends think im crazy but i love chickens :p

Why not start now on a small scale? Locate and attend a chicken show near you and take a look at the many breeds. Locate a breed and breeder that you like and get started.

silkies are a beautiful breed and very popular - you may also like a variety of silkie called SHOWGIRLS, the males and females are both called "showgirls." Put "showgirls" in the search box and see if you like their exotic look. Lots of silkie threads on byc my favorite is just called "Silkie thread."

Glad you joined us! You can start now by reading some of the breeds/showing discussions and asking questions there. We have a few wonderful and very experienced breeders and show judges who hang out in the Breeds, Genetics, & Showing section and I know they'll only be too happy to mentor a newbie. Enjoy!
