I have 4 aracauna hens and they layed 4 green or blue eggs and then have not layed another for 2 months than just now layed one but it is cream colored. why is that? will what i feed them change the color? and it was smaller than the ones before and only 3 were layhin out the 4. so i think the other one started layin cause that is what the other 3 done at first, they layed lil small cream colored ones than they were blue but now im getting none from them except the lil samll cream one yesterday? can anyone offer some in sight to maybe why they have quit?

Are you sure they are not molting? Mine took a break for about 2 months also, but I learned that she was molting and during that time they stop laying for a while. Where as I was getting an egg every other day before she started I am now getting 2 per week. The slow down could also come from the shorter days also. What are you feeding them although the feed should not have anything to do with the coloring.

Looking at your picture, I think you just need to go on an egg hunt. Free range birds often decide to lay in the most inconvenient places, and seems to me my easter eggers were the best at finding hard to find nests!

Do you have a run where you can confine them for a few days? That's an easy way to be sure. Otherwise, go looking under bushes, behind anything, find a 4 year old kid and tell them to go find the eggs........they're good at hiding nests.

that is the 2nd time they have been out like that. they stay in the run or coop at all times. but if they would have been out more than that than i would have assumed that they were layin elsewhere.

Well then..............

Didn't mean to be stating the obvious but you'd be suprised how many folks free range and just expect the hens to know to lay in a nest box.

i understand. i have got a few eggs from them the last 2 days but they are comming out cream colored ike the first few did when my other aracauna started layin are they suppose to do that?
