My babies are here

You have a lot of very cute chicks. I agree with Mahonri on the kinds. I wasn't sure about the ISA browns but I know the other three. THanks for posting the pics. Like I said they are super cute.

Thanks Mahonri. Yes we have a big coop and we have tons of land as they will free range for the most part on nice days but we are building a big run for the days when they cannot due to weather. We are planning on butchering most of the cockerels and filling our freezer for next winter.

Do you think I should seperate the Buff Orpingtons from the RIR's? I know the BO are calmer and the RIR are not. I don't want the RIR picking on the BO. We can build another brooder

. I don't want to mix breeds that should not be mixed due to additude.
Are the Isa browns ok with the barred rocks?

They all look like they are doing really well too.

I am amazed that out of 104 chicks they all made it in shipping and as of now all seem perfectly fine. I have been watching them and they all have been drinking, eating and sleeping. Takes a while to watch that many chicks and look for signs of something being wrong. Also out of the 104 chicks no pasty butts as of yet. DH helped me look at all their bottoms. I will be changing the paper towels often in the next couple of days and I will check bottoms each time I do it.
On the RIR there is some that have a line on their head, does that mean anything as far as cockerels?
Some of my BO have some wing feathers starting already, is that possible? (I know it is, because it obviously has happened, lol) does that mean maybe they are older then a day? And possibly cockerels also?
All the barred rocks have white dots on their heads except for 1, so maybe the pullet sticker did mean they were all pullets.

The hatchery called and the guineas that were due here tomorrow won't be here til next tuesday now.

Although since the chicks are here, I have them to keep me busy for the next week

so oh well, I can wait another week.

Am I having beginners luck? I got my 104 chicks yesterday morning and I expected to lose at least a couple yesterday which I did not. So this morning I thought for sure I had to of lost at least one through the night and nope. I feel pretty lucky but also know it could happen. Just seems like an awful lot of chicks to all be so healthy. I have had a couple of pasty bottoms but got them cleaned up.
