I have given up on hatching ducks...my second set of eggs were all infertile

I set three more (two pekin and 1 runner). these will be my last, and then I'm just gonna cry and let mommas do all the work

Yes, they're Khaki Campbells. I picked them because of their egg laying ability. I started with 8 eggs, one was infertile, one died in the first few days. I'm amazed that with home-made bator, all six of the remaining eggs hatched. I can't wait to let them start swimming. I just love watching them.

ETA: I had thought that a crest came from specific breeds, but am I right in assuming it can happen to any breed? Or does this mean that maybe that baby was a cross-breed?

We were thinking of calling him Elvis because of his great pompadour hair style. Of course, he may be a she, so then we'd have to name it something else, but won't know about that for awhile yet.
