Okay... so I've had two (of my four) black australorps laying for about a month or two... and WALA! Today one of them hatched two little fuzzie butts!!

I'm not sure what to do now! I need help. What do I feed them... keep them seperate from flock? How long? etc etc!!!

HELP!!

Thanks!

How exciting! Congratulations!!

Baby chicks usually should be kept away from the other chickens since they could get pecked, but some people don't have an issue (especially if they are free ranged). They shouldn't eat laying mash, so if they are with the other chickens, you should switch to an alternative food.

Make sure they have access to water. They're egg sacs will keep them hydrated and nourished for a couple of days, so don't panic.

Chicks need starter/grower, and this is fine for mama for a while. Offer a calcium source when mama approaches laying time again.
