This is their 2nd night out in the coop.

Last night I herded them inside a little early cuz I had to go out to dinner.

Tonight I wanted to see if they'd go inside by themselves, so I waited till sunset to check on them..

I was SO SURPRISED to see them all inside the coop piled up in their little lump on the floor chirping their way to sleep.
Some of them like to sleep inside the cat litter containers, so I placed two there.

I got my camera and took a photo (it was DARK and I used the flash to catch 'em sleeping).

There were two Australorps sleeping on the roost near the door.

My coop; still not "finished" but it's livable.

Did you lock them in there for any length of time before they went in all by themselves? Mine just huddled up in the run to go to sleep.

No I did not lock them inside the coop for any length of time.

I had planned on doing this, but the weather was just too nice to lock them up.

Believe me, I was very surprised to find that ALL of them were inside when I went to check on them!

They pretty much free range during the day, so I really didn't want to go hunting for chickens with my flashlight.

And, Silkie Sue, my Polish chicks are about 11 weeks old now. I have four of them.

And now it's kinda obvious that two are hens and two are roos.

Just wish there was a way I could figure out what my Silkies are! (I have three of 'em.)

How wonderful! I'm still struggling with mine not going in at night (hoping tonight will be the night!)

I *LOVE* your coop! And the two sleeping on the roost by the door are simply adorable

The 9 week old Jersey Giants went to bed as soon as I put the ramp out. The Brahma girls that are 6 weeks were a bit confused but I got them off safely. I think it's so neat when they know bedtime!
