Today my 10 baby Silver Leghorns(i assume) arrived. They are just 3 days old,and they look happy to me/The run, they eat like piranhas :D but i am worried that the tend to sleep alot.Is it normal? My father is convincing me that it is normal becouse they are still very young.

Small chicks do sleep a lot. As long as they are eating and drinking and active in-between I won't worry. What are you using as the floor in your brooder? The reason I'm asking is because it looks like it may be a bit slippery underfoot for the chicks and that could cause foot and legs problems. Wood shavings and/or paper towels would be better for them.

Yes - leave the light on overnight. At that age they should be at approximately 95-100 degrees at all times. Red heat lamps are the best as they are less stressful when you leave them on all night. Each week the temperature can decrease by approximately 5 degrees, but you should still look to their behavior to determine if they're hot or cold. Huddling is a bad sign.

Always use pine shavings or paper towels with baby chicks. Although you cant see them slipping, it strains their legs and can cause splayed leg.
