I have a 4 week old baby chick who has a pretty bad crossbeak. He always seemed to be more chill than the other chicks. Today he seems really lethargic and to himself. He has periods where he is gasping for air when he laying down. When he is up, he is not. I have his food and water up high to accommodate his crossbeak. He is pooping normal- no blood. I just gave him poultry cell and I have some doxycycline. Not sure.if I shld dose him for respiratory infection? What would the doese be? This is him. I think he is a boy.

When the chick is laying down there is pressure on the air sacs most likely due to the crossbeak. It is interfering with his ability to properly breathe.
I dont believe antibiotics are needed. Try putting the chick on a roost where the chick can perch normally/sleep. Hopefully this will resolve the breathing issues.

Ok I was wondering if his crossbeak had something to do with it. Thank you! I do have a perch in their setup, but I think it may be too high for him, as he is the only one not on it. Prob his crossbeak throwing him off balance? Ill get him a low perch stat. Thank you so much!
