Today one of our eggs hatched its our second chick ever (the first died because it was pecked) so we have separated the new chick but she keeps falling down going to sleep then waking up and walking again if nothing is going on she stays asleep a little longer but is it normal for her to keep going to sleep like that if she falls asleep in her water dish she wakes up immediately so i'm not worried about that.

That is normal for very young chicks- hatching is a big job for them. They often fall asleep in the middle of eating or drinking, which is why people are advised to have a swallow water pan and some clean marbles or pebbles in it, to prevent chicks from drowning. They can drown and some certainly have.

Did the mama peck and kill the other chick? If so please don't leave this one with her. She will probably do the same. Some broodies are not cut out to be mothers at all

Thank you and another chicken in the flock attacked our first chick and injured it so we removed it from the coop but i had a spinal cord injury or something so it died after a few minutes so we took away the second one just to be safe

New little ones will fall asleep at the drop of a dime. As Diva said, put pebble, rocks, marbles, what ever you have in that water dish..I learned the hard way by not having something in a dish yrs. ago, and lost..of course, one of my favorite ones that had hatched.
These little tiny tots can't go out and about with the older chickens for quite a while. You need to have a brooder for them. I use the plastic bins. Some use fish tanks, some make their own out of wood. They should be in there until.. at least, they are drinking and eating.. a lot, on their own. Then I put them out in a nursery hutch I have for them. They won't be the larger chickens until they are a good three months old.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Yes, this is very normal chick behavior. Being a chick is exhausting and they need their little chicky sleep! They are growing rapidly and need all the rest they can get to be healthy.
