Hi All My Sussex Chicks are Vomiting water, It's not sour-crop I believe its because they didn't have water in there waterer and I filled it up and they just tried to continuously keep getting water.
I helped them get the excess water out of them by tipping them up and rubbing their crops. All seem better and well except one. She if fluffed up a bit and is still a little slow so she may have sour-crop I don't know enough to say that's what it is. Anyway, back to the point, every time I put the waterer down in my brooder the want water all the time, and I'm worried if I take it out and leave it until tomorrow they will still do it. HELP PLEASE I'm so unsure of what to do.

Can you post some photos of your brooder set-up and of your chicks?
How old are they?
How hot is it in your brooder?

Growing chicks should have water and feed available all the time. If you are limiting food/water, then they will eat and drink in excess because they are hungry.

Ok yeah I was out today and forgot to check but the light is 70watt it isn't on at the moment because it's so got in Tasmania they were born on the 2nd of January so around 4 weeks old

Do they have a source of grit available (crushed granite, small sharp stones)?

Chickens can dehydrate quickly, so they need to have an ample supply of fresh water all day - so if I were you, I would leave water with them all the time.

Drinking too much water will not cause sour crop - it sounds like they filled up on water because they ran out. Hopefully once you get them used to having water and food available regularly, they won't over fill their crops.
