My girl is egg bound, we'll I think so, I'm new. She is waddling, much less responsive, her vent feels like there is something (I think, didn't want to touch to hard or too much) and she is eating very little. Hasn't layed in 2days,although she is a fairly new layer. Also to be said that it's been 99degrees out today, they have plenty of shade and a shallow pool to cool down. But even then she was laying down and closing her eyes.
I've given her calcium citrate as suggested on other posts. Question is: how long does it take to work? Gave it to her at 7pm. Just leave her until the morning? Or should I give her a Epsom soak now?

Can you post photos of her and her poop?

Is she pooping?

Good that you gave her Calcium Citrate, give her one once daily for a week.

Make sure she's drinking and staying hydrated. You can give her a little sugar water or electrolytes.

Timeline? It can be hard to know. If she's having trouble laying an egg, then hopefully she'll be able to expel it soon.

I would not soak her, that can be stressful.

I'll be watching her tomorrow and will post feedback. She was calm after I gave her die calcium and did poop once, very runny.
Will do the electrolytes tomorrow for sure.

She did it! During the night. She is happy and chatty this morning.
So do I give her some calcium for the rest of the week? Maybe change out her food for a different brand. She doesn't like the lime scale I got for them.

How often does she normally lay eggs? You could repeat the calcium once if she seems to be having trouble laying. Are her shells normally hard? How much calcium does your feed contain? They need 4% calcium or they need access to crushed oyster shell to take as the need it. It the limescale common for calcium supplement where you live? What is your general location?

Wonderful! My guess would be to continue the Ca for a few days, but others will let you know for sure.

I don't know why I called it limescale, it is the product in the screenshot below. But the crumbles are too big, I'll go see what they have at the feed store today.
She usually lays every day but she is still young.

Our OS was a lot of larger crumbles and they didn't touch them at first. So I began to add Egg shells (ES) to them. They ate the ES first and then would eat the smaller OS crumbles. I broke the larger crumbles with a hammer on a wood board, I know time consuming but I purchased 50# bag and was Not going to let it go to waste. 😎
Now after 4 weeks, they are eating more of the OS crumbles and some of the larger ones, finally. They still will eat the ES first, like it's a treat.

I have an acquaintance they wants 4 dz eggs a week and she returns the cartons and the ES! So we have plenty of them.
