Why does he do this?
I have a group of chickens in a shed. In the shed I have my 4 EE hens, a EE roo, 4 mixed hens, 2 slikie, a cochin, and my slikie roo Bam-bam. Every morning I let them out to free range and Bam-bam drops his wings and runs as fast as he can, chasing the girls but he doesn't chase my rooster stanely. He has been doing this for a year and he only does this in the morning. In the afternoon he sit in his favorit spot by the fence and just sits there untill stanely gets to close to my cochin hen and then he cases stanely away. He doesn't let other roos go near her and I don't know why he only does this with onll my little cochin.

Roos seem to prefer to mate first thing in AM

sometimes....right before they go in to roost

...just saying what I have noticed about mine...

...chickenlover3... :

He is not very good for hatching eggs because only 5 out of 21 were even good. I think he needs to leave Stanely alone and just do his job.

He needs some chicken viagra!
