My little banty less than one year old has taken to the next like she is setting and won't get off.. we have NO rooster. I can't find this behavior in my reference book and I did not know that one would do that with non fertile eggs. I am not sure what to do or if nothing. i hoped someone with more experience has been through this and could share advice. Thanks!

She might have gone broody. SHE doesn't know none of the eggs are fertile If you do a search, there are a ton of ideas on how to break a broody. Good luck, I usually just give mine eggs.

You have a broody hen. This happens regardless whether or not you a rooster or fertile eggs.

What I would do is find some fertile eggs from someone and put them under her

Test out how good of a mother she is

She is broody and that can happen with out without a rooster. It's just her natural instincts coming out.

thanks for all the answers! She obviously wants to be a mommy but the fertile eggs aren't an option due to space constraints. However, I hope one day soon that won't be, so I don't want to break her of the instinct. Should I leave her alone, continue to remove eggs each day?

I think (not sure) I also have a broody banty. She is young too, just started laying first week in January. I've been collecting the eggs everyday anyway. We do have a rooster, but I just don't want chicks at least until the snow melts around here. Until then . . .
