My BBS Orps - photo diary

Here are the chicks from my last hatch of Orps. They were BBS from Tuffoldhen. They are growing like crazy and they are AMAZING!! I got some Splashes that I was super happy about. Looks like for sure I have at least one boy. Here's hoping he grows well.

I started with 26 eggs and had 13 hatch....

I had two die early, in the first 48 hours, so when they got moved from the basement to the barn I was down to 11. But all are healthy and doing well...

Here they are this morning in the brooder. They are separated in two groups for more room. They are now 1 month old...

They're adorable! I'm picking up 3 BBS Orps, 2 pullets and a roo, in a couple of weeks. Can't wait!

I'm hoping to add some blue and/or splash to my flock... Orp or Ameraucana. DH says I can't have an incubator, which is probably a good thing

So I'll have to wait until someone (probably a silkie) gets broody. They're still young, so I have a ways to go

Thanks! Soon as I get two more pens built I'm gonna get some more hatching eggs. It's horribly addictive - your hubby is a smart man!

Good Luck with your Chickens! i am opening a hatchery up in Alaska so im gonna be ordering some hatching eggs of Blue/Black/Splash Orpintons. Excited! And hopefully get some more breeds like Light Brahma's and hoping to hatch some more regular orpingtons also.

I think orps are my favorites. I wish I had some pretty ones like yours.
