You guys are all so sweet. It means so much to me to hear your words of comfort. Buddy took a piece of my heart with her and I will never, ever forget her. Thank you all!
I am so sorry for your loss. I too just lost a hen last week with the same symptoms. I believe she was egg bound. I have heard so much of it going on this year, much more than normal. Now all I do is worry about my other hens. Be sure your other hen has enough calcium intake to prevent it from happening to her.
as I understand exactly what you are going through. My duck Wendy died yesterday and she had been laying for about a month now and I thought she was laying an egg and then I found her. I absolutely am devastated and I can't stop crying
I am so sorry to hear about your peahen, I know how terrible the loss of a feathered baby can be (they may grow up but sometimes they are always our babies, just like children) I have lost a couple that I was truely saddened at. She was a beautiful bird, absolutely stunning. Keep your other girl well vitamined and make sure she is getting calcium and lots of water, the weather this year is murderous.
