Traditionaly O Shamo are "Big Puddings" as Julia Keeling (The Shamo Lady) puts it. That is until they get around 8 months or so, then they "Turn On" and from that point on they do not play well with others. In my experience, as they grow, I have to seperate trouble makers as they appear. If you don't have pen space for several stags, you should get prepared. If you keep him as a pet, he will probably always be a pet, at least to you, but sooner or later he will be a threat to other roosters. Al orientals are easy to handle, with few exceptions. As I said, be prepared.........Pop

Edit to say: By "pen space" I mean pens for individual stags.

Yesterday I looked out in the front and he had jumped the picket fence and was trying to kill all the roosters out there. He is penned out back but I had let him out to pick in the grass. He absolutely went out of his way to get to them. That was a first.

Yeah I read that elsewhere on the site. He'll be my only rooster as the others have a place where they're going. He's only going to be with two other birds, both hens, but probably not my hen "Chicken" until both Aiko and (Nugget? LOL) grow up.
