I am concerned becuse my largest hen had a little blood on her egg. It is not running out of her and there is no blood on her on chip in the laying box. Her vent was not bleeding, but looked irritated and red. She didn't lay an egg yesterday, but she doesn't miss often. Even through the winter. Should I just watch her or put some neosporin on it?

I wanted to buy 2 more chicks today, but they hadn't been vaccinated for Mareks, and so I didn't. I don't think my other 4 are either, but they said the reason was because they didn't know what was going to be fed to them. But I am more concerned about JJ.

A blood smear on an egg especially in newer hens or ones that lay large eggs is normal occasionally. I would keep an eye on her vent so that no one is pecking her vent.

I am always in panic mode when it comes to one my pets. Just had the cat to the vet this am. Thanks, I will keep an eye on her. Yesterday we were doing gardening, and didn't notice anything unusual about how they were acting, but will do for sure.

It happens. Do not worry overmuch about it. I have randomly found blood on eggs sometimes, even enough blood to be slightly alarming at one point. Nothing ever came of it, even the one where there was quite a lot of blood. Just a hitch in the plumbing.

Good luck. I hope your cat is OK.

Thank you much! As I said I am always in a panic mode with something happens to my pets. JJ seems to be ok. I will keep a close watch on her. My Chloe (cat) is 17 years old, needs an extraction of one of her teeth. It will probably cost 6 to 7 hundred dollars, but not for 6 months, until her other problems are under control. Gives me time to save up. But I take my pets as "forever" and although some people think I an nuts. But Chloe has been my companion and loyal comfort for many years. And she doesn't deserve to die for 50 dollars. Is that nuts? Maybe I am a crazy women.
