How long did you have chickens??

I have had chickens since June 2009... They are always a laugh on a boring day!

Let them put one foot in the snow and they will run back into the coop before you can blink.

Yes, they did that on the first day because one escaped but, they are still pretty upset!

Looks like us humans aren't the only ones that wouldn't mind getting rid of some snow!

Cracks me up. Look how the rooster is on the outside of the group! He knows better than to invade the ladies.

Yep! I have four roosters in the coop and he doesn't let any of the other three on the floor of the coop when the doors are closed... If they get down, he chases them until they get back up on the roost or atleast the nest boxes! He is the oldest at 1 1/2 years old... Then I have one that is 9 months old, and two that are 6 months old. One of the two youngest is the one pictured in the second pic... His name is Tootsie (don't ask)! Haha... Poor fella'!

I let mine out what ever the weather, unless of course it's a BLIZZARD. By blizzard I mean 2+ feet of snow and tons of wind. I live in eastern Canada so unless I want my flock locked up all winter long they gotta hit the snow

They really don't mind it. If it's fresh they're not so keen on it but once a few have braved it and made a bit of a path they love to forage for the treats that I throw out to them. Hay on top of the snow helps alot to.

UPDATE:

I opened the door today because it had stopped snowing, and they all ran for the door (all excited)... And when they got there they stopped so fast that they fell down!

I guess the linoleum was a little slippery!

They looked at me even more disgusted than when I didn't let them out! Like it was MY fault! Haha...

I know what you mean i roo and hen got mad at me because my back yard was flooding a bit and i didn't want them to be swimming. I had to keep them inside all day they were ticked lol. As far as snow my roo goes out most of the day if there's snow on the ground but my hen staies inside because its too cold.

Yep... I find that my Buff Orpingtons and my BO mix are more hardy and willing to venture into the snow! They were the only one out today!
