My BLACK Copper Marans is BROWN. When will he develop proper coloring?

I understand in the US you have modified the Marans Standard so that it differs from the original French Standard. The French Standard does not call for solid black breasts on the Brown-red (Black Copper) male, and does not specify any set number of comb points,

I have roos with coloring on the chest but I LOVE my roo with the solid black I think he looks beautiful...But that is my preference.. They are aloud some color on the chest..... I have 3 roos that I keep for breeding all are very much different in there own ways...
As long as you are in it for the eggs and not showing who cares.. Some people breed for egg color some for show quality I myself am going for both...

Jan,
Sorry to have confused you on the comb statement. I edited that post. I am brain dead the last couple of weeks, I was thinking Welsummer.
Anyway......posting pictures........Uploads in the blue tool bar. Click on that and it will walk you through loading photos.
Hope all is well with you!

I have a rooster with a beautiful solid black breast, but he has gold in his hackles. I think it's because he carries wheaten gene. Wheatens generally have a solid black breast whereas BC's do not. The difficulty and challenge of getting a Marans that fits the French standard is part of their appeal to me. The stock here in the US is definitely a work in progress.
