My BLACK Leghorn x Rhode Island Red chick...

Ditto.

I have tons of RIRxWhite Leghorn babies (ok, like 20) and they ALL carry one dominent white gene from their momas. The females have black leakage, which shows up as just a few black flecks here and there, but the males have gotten more red leakage as they have gotten older. Unfortunately, they all were white with black spots (dalmation?) as chicks, not color sexable until it was already really obvious who was who

Can anyone explain to me how this happened?? You can imagine how shocked I was to find the fuzzy little thing running around in the bator. They are all a cross from my 236/White Leghorn hens and my RIR rooster.
I am doing this now, and all the chicks are black with black beaks!
