My Black Swedish broke a piece of his bill

So, recently I've relocated my ducks from my apartment, to my mom's house, because she has more space and they can run around outside. I'm at work, and just got this picture from my mom, saying she found him like this. Does anyone know how to treat a bill break, and will it grow back? I can post more, better pictures when I get off work in a bit.

Ouch! That poor guy. You will want to keep the wound cleaned. You can put Neosporin on the would to help prevent an infection. A vet would be good, because that torn off piece should be removed if it doesn't fall off on its own. You may need to give him moistened chow to make it easier for him to eat for a while.

I would keep an eye out for a possible infection. He may end up needing an antibiotic.

I would separate this wounded duck from your others -- keep it quiet and in a clean environment. Give the duck plenty of deep clean water to drink and tokeep the wound clean. And separately, give water for bathing in.

The bill will start to heal within a few days. The damage bit might drop off or come off later. It doesn't matter.

For now, make soft mash from your duck pellets/crumbles so that the food is easy to eat. If the end bit does drop off, long term you may need to put the duck pellets in a deep bowl to make it easier to eat. I have a pekin that lost the end of his beak in a fight with a raccoon. He manages pellets in a deep bowl. I have to put his defrosted frozen peas in a plastic cup so that he can eat them -- the steep sides and narrow bottom, keep the peas deep and they fall back down there when he loses them from his beak

Do you know how the injury occured -- you need know so you can prevent further injuries in your ducks

Poor guy! To add onto what other members have said about eating - I've found that mazuri duck pellets floating in water is the easiest thing to eat. Ideally in a ceramic dog bowl of water (not easy to tip over).
