My boy sleeps with one leg up. Is this common?

My gander often sleeps standing up with one leg tucked in. He lets his mate sleep laying down and seems to be more aware of the surroundings. Is this a common thing for a male goose to do while the female sleeps? This is my first time with geese and all I keep thinking is that he has a sore leg or something..

Well I know in pigeons a pigeon that sleeps on one leg is a happy healthy pigeon. Its hard to balance on one leg if your sick, hurt and stresses. Maybe the same for geese?

Maybe he's part flamingo.

Archie does this sometimes- scared me the first couple of time I saw it- I'd go over to her to see what was wrong with her foot, she'd honk at me for waking her up and walk away normally. Completely normal for her.

Yep, I have a flamingo goose too!!!!

And did you know you can push them and they won't fall over, they have this kind of internal gyroscope that keeps them upright even when they're on something that's moving about like a boat or floating platform!!!
