Well, I did something tonight that my husband just shook his head over and I have to admit, surprised even me....
Noticed today that one of the BR girls had a big wad of dried/frozen runny poop stuck to her fluffy butt feathers. It had evidently been added to throughout the day and grew as the day progressed to about golfball size. Our high was 30 and the low tonight is 18. (She seems otherwise fine and healthy, so apparently she just had a little disagreement w/the table scraps I fed today. ) So tonight when I put the girls to bed I decided I had better do something about it and brought her in, snipped off the frozen poopball, washed the area with baby shampoo, and blow dried her butt.
She was pretty cooperative for a chicken getting a butt trim, wash and blow out. My husband had to take a few photos to document this evidence of my descent into further chicken mania. Enjoy!
