I went out to the coop this morning and found a small, thin shelled egg. Then after looking through the coop I found another egg a little bit smaller but same color as the one before. I know it wasn't my RIR. Is it normal for a hen to lay 2 eggs her very first time?

Thanks

A hen will only lay an egg at the most often, once per day. It takes something like 26 hours for the egg to develop from start to lay.

The smaller egg - Some call it a fart egg

It is natural for that to happen when a hen first starts to lay, and may happen occasionally after that first year.
The thin shelled egg - This happens occasionally when a hen begins to lay. Pretty much, their bodies are adjusting to laying & you may even see a shell-less egg. Be sure you have her on a laying mash or laying crumble diet. Provide a container of oyster shell that the hens can eat whenever they need it. Shells should thicken as the hens lay more and get older.
