My pekin hen has been sitting on eggs for about 2 weeks now.
Last night she sat about 1 foot away from them.
This mornng when I checked on her I move her away thinking she abondon her eggs and she ran straight for them again and is sitting on them now.
Will the babies survive 12 -14 hrs being cold?
If I leave her on the nest and the chicks are dead in the egg will they start to smell?
Thanks

Is this a Pekin chicken or duck hen? Either way, I'd let her go ahead & finish her set, for either 1 or 2 more weeks. It's very possible the eggs could still be fine. If not, they shouldn't start to smell in under 2 weeks. She herself may push out eggs that she can tell aren't alive any more. And if her eggs don't hatch on time, you can replace them with new fresh eggs and have her try again.

I wish you & your hen the best of success!

Thanks the hen is a chicken I think Americans call the Pekin Chicken a Cochin lol
I hope they are alright I will let her sit on them if there is a chance they are alive
Thanks for your response

I've had hens bail from the nest and I'll find the eggs the next day ...cold. I toss them in the bator and, most of the time, they carry on
