My broody on youtube

There are my sweet girls! Thanks for the live pics of Iris and Hazel. I am so glad you are still enjoying those two sweeties, Lee. They are the prettiest little things, arent they? I liked the pics of Iris's older chicks you posted-she throws some pretty babies.

Very nice broodys but I have a question. I have hens that do that then they get up after they lay there egg. They puff up and try and bite me. I leave them alone and when I come back a few hours later they are up and not in the nest?? I am confused. Guess they are not truly broody.

Broodies usually stop laying eggs when they begin to sit.

A hen gets very defensive while she is laying eggs, most will puff up while laying, then go about their regular chicken business.

A broody will get up off the nest just long enough to eat and drink and poop, then back to sitting.
