My broody, PICs

My broody buff orps babies hatched last week. I also gave her the chicks I hatched a few days prior to her hatch. She has 16 babies in total, and is doing great taking care of them. She is VERY protective. I cannot wear flip flops in the barn as she attacks my feet.

I'm very pleased. I have a second buff orp broody sitting on eggs for about 4 days now. I wanted a broody, and now they are all going broody

I liked how more and more kept coming out!

Mine all wait until the dominant hen goes broody and then they all join in. Congrats, I love it when you can successful put other hatches in and the hens take care of them all. As much fun as it is to play with the incubator chicks I think the hen raised ones have an edge.

Aw, how sweet! Reminds me of when my Sunny raised two chicks and demanded to adopt the other 25 three-week-old chicks in the pen next to her. She was in maternal heaven when I let her in with them and they seemed very happy to have a mama.
