Wow never had BR's before and my EE's only cheep cheep cheeped. These little BR's can sound like most all the song birds outside in my yard. They are here with me in my computer room and every now and then I turn around to see if another outside bird is hiding

It's so cool! Is this normal or are my girls just super duper talented?

You have a chorus line!

Sounds to me like they're super-duper HAPPY to be living there with you

I love to listen to mine make the happy chick sounds...very soothing and sweet!

We have two almost-month-old Welsummers that give songbirds a run for their money, too. I had always thought chickens just peeped and then moved on to clucking....but the whistling and trilling that come out of those two are fascinating. The wife and I spend a lot of time in there just listening to them.
I'm glad to hear that there are other folk out there with happy, talkative chicks!

Yours sound like mine! It's non-stop unless they are sleeping. I don't know how they do it but they sing all while eating and drinking as well as just hanging out. We get trilling, whistling, and loads of singing. Cheeping is probably the one sound we least hear out of them.
It's just as you said, fun hanging out here listening to them be happy.

I really need to get the video camera in there one night. It is just a hoot to hear all the sounds that come out of them. They also do what my wife calls "tap dancing" on the rim of the brooder tub....shuffling one direction and then the other while chirping and whistling away!

The first batch of chicks I raised had ONE chick that "trilled" - that was the Black Australorp, Matilda. She was so special.

Now, with this new batch o' chicks, my BR chick trills, chirps, chatters, and peeps. So do both Welsummers, and both Sebrights! I think one of the cochins does it, too.....

Boo-Boo's Mama :

My BR just do the Ninja jumping...no songbirds!
