My californian rabbits were bred for me when I got them.
After 2 weeks we could not feel anything in their bellies.
So, we waited.
Ponder was due last Wednesday. We saw blood smears in her cage but never any babies in her nest. After 35 days I am taking the nest box out and will wait 14 days then breed her again.
Maize was due last friday. Saturday we found a dead bun on the pen not int he nest. She was panting and acting not normal. We gave her ice water and left her be. We check her the next morning and there was nothing. She seemed normal. Sunday afternoon I went out and her nest box was full of fur. We saw something wiggling but left them alone.
Last night when i was closing up the barn I took a flashlight and peeked into the box. One little naked bunny was wiggling around and sniffing - remember no eyes open yet - it scooted around, found the big nest ball and hair and quick as a wink it wiggled down and disappeared out of sight.
I have baby californains! These are the first mammals born on my farm!
