Hi there,
I recieved 2 call ducklings a few weeks ago, one I assumed came from my own pair of chocolate calls as the duckling looked sort of chocolate..not brown but not grey either....well now it's feathering out and looks grey to me..... I know it can molt out to look completley different but just curious how can you tell if a duckling is really blue or not with no blue duck to compair it to?
Its tootsies looked brown at hatching, now it's tootsies are mottled what looks like black or blue specks. I will take a picture here in a moment and add it here... in the mean time any thoughts on this would be wonderful. I've seen pictures of blue sweedishes for an example and they have yellow down on thier troat and chest this duckling had none of that.
Just one solid color.
Possible parents the back two (moulting right now):
and heres the other call duckling I got with a better call-looking beak...pretty sure it's a young drake
