Hi.

Even though I have made a lot of research, I can't figure out what colour are my Indian Runner ducklings...

Thus, any help would be appreciated!
(Talk genetic to me!! Teach me what you know, please...!!)

• 2-months-old juvenile duck (♀) :

• She has a bit of Black on her wings... :

• Same girl, at 8-days-old :

Honestly, I first thought this duckling was just Blue coloured...
There was a very, very faint difference in the fluff colour with my (actual) Blue duckling, but not enough to believe she was not Blue...

Penciled feathers emerging from her back have eventually made me understand she was not a solid Blue duck, but Dusky patterned instead...

...but what colour, exactly?

Is my girl - I don't know - a Pastel Dusky duck...?

• Now... here is a 4,5-weeks-old duckling :

Duckling could be Yellow Belly... but apart from that : what colour is it?

I find the gray colour to be much too light for it to be an Apricot Trout juvenile plumage... so what is it? Lilac/Lavender Mallard...? Or Splash Mallard?
...Silver Mallard?

• And this one - 4,5-week-old -, at the center of the picture :

No idea what this colour will end up being...
...Faery Blue Fawn, maybe?

Thank you to the ones who will reply to this thread!

I am really curious about these specific colours, so much so I don't want to have to wait for my ducklings' adult plumage to emerge if I can get answers here...

(Do post pictures if you have ducks of similar colours, please!)

No idea, but I do know feathers change as they mature, so you may need to wait for the final coloring. I'd call them buff, but I don't know a lot about the breed, and have mostly kept muscovy myself.

Hi.

No idea, but I do know feathers change as they mature, so you may need to wait for the final coloring.

Yeah... I'm waiting, but it is hard.

I'd call them buff, but I don't know a lot about the breed, and have mostly kept muscovy myself.

First duckling could be Blue Dark Dusky instead of Pastel Dusky...?
I don't know - I have some doubts -, but it was one of my objectives for this season...!

Second duckling is probably Pastel coloured.
(Possibly Yellowbelly too, but I can't confirm it for the time being.)
I have searched for pictures of Pastel ducklings, and apparently, Pastel coloured juvenile ducks have a very light grey (actually somewhat silver) head...?

Third duckling... I have no idea.
I would like to say she is Buff coloured, but do Buff Indian Runners even exist...?
(I know she is not Lilac, in any case...)

I'm not sure about color but they are beautiful! I love runners.

Yeah... Indian Runners are beautiful and funny ducks!

* ...UPDATE : I have found pictures!

Here is what I call the "Blue Dark Dusky" colour : https://www.frieslandshow.nl/kleuren-watervogels/kleuren-bij-de-eenden/blauw-mees/

(Same, but ENLARGED picture of the Blue Dark Dusky female : https://watervogels.com/wp-content/uploads/blauwdonkerwild-2.jpeg)

Very beautiful colour (but clearly not enough pictures)...

You can see these same pictures by choosing "Blue Dusky" among the colour of THE Calculator, but apart from these ones, I could not find ANY other picture of a Dark Blue Dusky duck...

...I (now) think my duck probably is Blue Dark Dusky because it was one of my objectives (for my current ducklings)... but also because of her wings : indeed, contrary to a Pastel Dusky coloured duck, she doesn't have any trace of wing speculums - she just has solid coloured remiges instead...

(Huh...
I'm learning...)
