My Camcorder broke

So... the ongoing battle with Sony. Part of my problem is that if this camcorder worked, I think I would really love it. And I hate the idea of filling up landfills with stuff that doesn't need to be there. Add to that the fact that it also plays the 8mm tapes. I need to use the suggestions ivan3 so kindly gave me to boost the computer a bit.

Anyhow... wrote to Sony and told them the story, they sent me a reply with an 800 number to call and 'they will be happy to discuss this' with me.
Explained that I talked to online chat and called an 800 number and that general consensus was that the camera is broke and needs fixed. Told them that I already knew that.
They sent me a link to their site that shows where to get the camera fixed. I wrote back and pointed out that in that link, when you enter the model number of my camera it just says 'model not found'. I asked why they can't just send a CCD and I will have it installed at my own expense. I also took the opportunity to tell them my first name, and told them that I was introducing myself because I get the feeling that we will be chatting a lot.
They sent a reply identical to the first one giving me the 800 number and 'they will be happy to discuss this' with me.

At this point I am wondering if they are even reading the messages. So I am thinking of sending a reply along the lines of 'A few of my chickens died and I think it's because the water heater may have been shorting out. It was making a buzzing noise. Can you fix it?' See what they say...

You do know that the CCD in your cam was ***** , and there was a class action lawsuit? They repaired for free through 2008. Though they continued to repair other models with same problem for some time thereafter:

You might try the number, here: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/support-contacts.pl

If
you registered the cam with Sony when you bought it, that might help. Let them know you were never informed of any suit. You might have to be persistent (bug the Japan HQ).

I didn't know about a lawsuit, but I found out about the recall the night I found the camera didn't work. I might try the phone number on the esupport link, though I did try the email address there last night. Apparently the email ended up with the folks who keep sending me the messages to call the 800 number so that was a dead end.

I sent them the following message last night (added to the email chain that has been growing between us): 'So do you have any idea on if they can fix my fount heater? Because it was shorting out, it killed two of my chickens. I really need it fixed so that the water doesn't freeze.' They gave me the 800 number and eservice link again. I wrote back to ask if they even read the messages. I guess it's time to send a letter through snail mail. I might copy the email chain that was going on, but should probably cut and paste so that the order is reversed so the messages read from oldest to newest. They'll probably tell me to quit harrassing their employees or something
