My cats are stoned

KiKi adores that stuff. Kitty ignores it. Ironic since Kitty is the one that could use some serious mellowing.

How do you all manage to grow it in your herb gardens?
Every time I plant it the neighbor cats destroy it.
It took me a while to find the plant even. They dug it up and dragged it away.

good thing they do not have cattle nip.

I have one random outdoor cat that has chosen to hang out here. He ignores the stuff, oddly enough. Granted, I don't think Fred can get any more mellow. If he were any more laid back he'd stop breathing.

The catnip and catmint grow like crazy. I routinely whack it back and it still stays full and tall. It's good stuff.

Yeah, cattle nip = dirty chicken litter apparently.

I grow catnip just to be able to provide my cats some special, silly time. Oddly enough, the chickens have NOT decimated that potted plant!

I'll just crush one leaf and toss it on the tiled kitchen floor. Big ol' Himalayan scooting around with the leaf under a paw, or rolling over on it as if it were a whole bunch of Great Stuff. Cracks me up.

I gave him some last night for actually catching the smallest mouse I have ever seen in my life (that wasn't a pinkie). The mouse was a whopping inch big, not counting the inch-and-a-half tail.

He zoned out after his treat. I wouldn't ever buy dried catnip again; the fresh stuff is so much better.

My chickens won't touch it but the ducklings ate all the leaves off of the plants growing in the coop run.

It grows all over our yard. My vet told me that 20% of cats don't like it at all.

Somewhere I have pics of my cats, caught red handed (pawed) they broke into the cabinet and stole the catnip and partied!!!! I will see if I can find the pics and post them.

My catmint is in full bloom and looks gorgeous. The catnip is spreading; I planted patches of it off each deck to keep the kitties happy. Of all the cats I have owned, I've only had one who really enjoyed fresh catnip. He was a big (22 lbs!) gray tabby who was very sweet and laid back and would just roll in the stuff. I used to keep some potted for him during the winter. The others all overdose on the dried stuff, although I occasionally catch one outside having a nip or two!
