My Cats Not Coming Home :'(

Thanks for all the kind messages <3 I only posted it to get it off my chest and I really didn't think anyone would reply.

There has been no further news on Sochin </3 I still call her in for dinner but she doesn't come.

As it was just not getting any better, we decided we needed to get another cat kitten. After looking on facebook/preloved
for cats/kittens needing a new home we came across these two who were free to a good home. I know people are against giving animals away as 'free to a good home' and
so am I, but I also object to paying crazy prices for a cat - when the money could be put towards getting its jabs, micro-chipping and having them spayed etc.
We met with the family (who owned the mum) and couldn't choose which one we liked more, so ended up taking them both home (much to the previous owners delight).

The lighter coloured one we think is going to be called Koshka (its Russian for cat, I think), as my mum is crazy and got to name her.
The darker one is more fluffy with a bit of a longer coat, any name suggestions? (They are both girls)

Sadly I don't have any good photos of Sochin on my laptop :( but it wasn't her looks that made her great, its her personality - and I don't need photos to remember that!

Feel free to stick around in this thread, I like seeing you photos are reading your stories (although I am sorry to hear that some of you have had the same experience as me).

I'll post some more pictures of the kittens when i get a chance :D
I'm glad you got new kitties and they are adorable!

I am so sorry to read about your much loved cat, you are probably already aware but just incase you are not... If cats feel they are nearing the end, they often seem to prefer to take themselves off somewhere quiet to pass away, this could well be what has happened here as you say she was off her food and then asked you to let her out, it sounds as if she was a very special cat and I hope you get as much pleasure from your new babies X

So sorry to hear about your loss

Glad you found some kittens though. We're going to have to get a new cat soon, our cat is 13 and will be dying soon (She hates to admit it but shes growing old but still acts like a 5 month old!) so getting a new cat soon will be invetiable, even though my dad (he LOVES her) says he doesn't need a new cat, I still think if he bonds with 2 cats when Tia (the 13 year old) passes he won't feel completely abodanded.

I am so sorry to hear this. We lost our poor Oliver on Thanksgiving 3 years ago. He was indoor/ outdoor but he was beating up on our new rescue kitten, so we put him outside when we went on vacation for 2 days. He seemed perfectly happy with that. However, his bowl was still full when we came back, and I just had a bad feeling. We searched for him every day. We put up posters, asked the neighbors, and just didn't want to give up. One day, we were walking the dogs when I found a coyote poo on the road with an unmistakable wad of bright orange and white fur. I new then what happened to poor Oliver. Since then, Bella and Tigger became full indoor kitties. And our newest addition, Casper, never stepped one paw outside. I am not one of those "cats should be indoor only" people, but it just isn't safe where we live. Volunteering at the shelter makes it hard to resist the cuteness! The adult cats and little kittens are so friendly, I just want to take them all home. But I think three house cats is max for now!

I am comforted and sadden that so many of you seem to understand what my family and I are going through.

As I was growing up we had a cat called Fern (my parents had her before I was born), as Fern was getting old my parents
decided to get another cat, so that it wouldn't be as hard on us children when Fern died (I was about 8 at the time). Fern lived for
another 4/5 years and was 22 when she was put to sleep. I think one of the reasons why it was so hard when Sochin went missing
was because the house was empty without a cat in it - having always had a cat in the house it is crazy how many small things you miss
when they are not there.

I still really hope Soch will come home, I know its unlikely but I can't give up on her...... I know it sounds mental but she was as much apart of
my family as anyone else. I know its unlikely ... but hey.

In the mean time I have two new kittens to keep me busy, and they do a great job of making me laugh, daily.

This is Koshka (Russian for cat - my mum named her)

and this is Neko (Japanese for cat - again my mum named her)

Again - thank you guys for posting your stories, its nice to read them and not feel so alone in it :D
