My chick excitement just deflated

maybe you could "confide" in her and tell her what happened with the boss. Of course you don't know that SHE knows. lol. And ask her what she thinks and jeez would it really be a problem? Then ask her to go to the boss with you as your "buddy backup" lol. Who knows she might be corraled into "helping you" get your chicks

Okay then...how about sweet-talking your local feed store into lending a hand? If you have a good relationship with them, maybe they'll help you out by taking custody of the peeps for a day?

Yes, I'm reaching, but sometimes life is all about the hook-ups.

Hey, there's an idea - I'll ship them to one of you guys or go pick up chicks from someone far, far away and then I'll say, hey, how do you like this, I'm taking a week of vacation in the middle of tax and farmer loan refinancing season. In yo' face! That'd go so poorly! Road trips out of WI in winter are fun tho...

In reply to her "helping" me, I don't think that comes from someone who only thinks of themselves and talks about themselves. She's 48, she ain't gonna change for lil' ole me!

I would have said

"The shipping instructions and order have already been placed! Sorry! You CAN change the order for a fee. If you pick up that cost I will change it."
(Make sure you look all innocent while saying it.)

I am just talking about addressing the problem at the source. You did say that your boss already agreed that it would be ok. If you can keep your cool about it, I think it would be worthwhile to seek out a happy agreement at the office. You did mention they would be in the furnace room and out of the way. Approach the woman and ask her "advice" just to see how she can spin her way out of it. hahahah

I strongly agree with culling people at birth! That's funny, thanks for the smile!!

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Seems like there's one in every office.

Put out a call for assistance from a BYC-er that lives near you and is home during the day to take delivery or drive to the post office. I'm sure many would be willing to help. I sure would. In fact, I would fall in love with the little peeps immediately and would want visitation privileges as they grow up!
